RACCONTARE A TEATRO



Per 25 partecipanti



L’Università del Teatro Eurasiano, come d’abitudine, affronterà il campo di studio indicato dal titolo dalla prospettiva complementare del lavoro pratico e della riflessione storica.



Il lavoro pratico avverrà nella mattinata e sarà guidato da PARVATHY BAUL e JULIA VARLEY. Parvathy lavorerà sui presupposti fisici e vocali necessari per una disciplina basata sulle tecniche di canto e contastorie della tradizione Baul. Julia Varley si concentrerà sulla drammaturgia dell’attore e il montaggio narrativo delle azioni fisiche e vocali.



Nel pomeriggio si ripercorreranno gli episodi salienti degli itinerari dei maestri del Novecento riconoscendo una scienza del teatro nella separatezza dei loro Studi, teatri laboratori e scuole. Da Stanislavskij, Craig e Mejerchol’d, passando per Brecht, Artaud e Grotowski fino all’antropologia teatrale e gli scambi tra Occidente e Oriente, si seguirà lo sviluppo autonomo, eppure profondamente connesso, delle loro ricerche e visioni per un’azione fisica efficace, oggettiva e credibile.



Il racconto storico sarà intrecciato da: EUGENIO BARBA, FRANCO RUFFINI, NICOLA SAVARESE, MIRELLA SCHINO, FERDINANDO TAVIANI.

For experienced actors and actor/improvisers. If you want to spend 10 hours a day improvising; learn new skills to take back to your troupe; learn how to put your body back into your work (the 80% you don't usually commit to); and participate in a workshop experience where you will work on your craft with brilliant improvisational artists, this Retreat is it.



Work daily in ensemble and with master teachers Gary Austin (founder of L.A.’s The Groundlings), Michael J. Gellman (senior faculty & director, The Second City), Kevin Frank (Artistic Director, The Second City Training Center/Toronto), and Scotty Watson (Toronto Second City). Each evening, participants present an improv performance highlighting skills and techniques worked on that day.

Let former Cirque du Soleil star Olga Sidorova personally guide you through the world of magic in the air and show you how to spread your wings.

An aerial Workshop for 4 to 6 people that offers a great foundation to go on to explore the art of flying. It is focused on movement, dance, improvisation and personal expression in the air. If you like theatre, dance and yoga this is the program for you.

• Equipment: connecting with the apparatus

• Movement: body awareness, shape and form in the air

• Emotion: expression and interpretation

• Structure: methods to evolve an act into a real performance

June 8th-19th, for our two-week Summer Intensive at the Living Theatre, featuring Rosemarie Tichler, Barry Horwitz, Judith Malina, Sheila Dabney, Tom Walker and The Living Theatre Company.



WEEK ONE: Shakespeare Intensive with Rosemarie Tichler and Barry Horwitz.



During the first portion of the program, June 8 - 11, participants will first analyze selected scenes from Shakespeare’s plays (possibly Merchant of Venice and The Winter's Tale, which will play this summer at Shakespeare in the Park.) Barry Horwitz will begin with script analysis, interpretation and discussion of characters, scenes, and language, introducing students to Shakespeare’s ideas. We will learn how to understand and develop the characters in each scene. Then, Rosemarie Tichler will conduct a Master Class on the scenes you have just studied assigning roles to actors, and helping you approach the text, prepare the scene, and make choices and adjustments.



WEEK TWO: Living Theatre Lab with Judith Malina, Sheila Dabney, Tom Walker and The Living Theatre Company



The second week of the Program, June 14-19, will be a Living Theatre Lab, with eight-time Obie Award Winner, Living Theatre founder and Artistic Director, Judith Malina; Obie Award-Winning actress, Sheila Dabney, Forty-year Living Theatre Member, Tom Walker, and The Living Theatre Company. Utilizing the techniques developed by the Living Theatre over it's sixty-year history, participants will create a play, to be presented at The Living Theatre on Saturday, June 19th.

IRA SEIDENSTEIN

Ira Seidenstein has been teaching several workshops each year in Paris since 2008. He has over 35 years experience in theatre, acting, clown. He is a director of theatre, circus, clown, commedia. Ira has been a clown and performance teacher for Cirque du Soleil, and White Clown and Dead Clown in Corteo. He helped establish Australia's national touring Shakespeare Company as the Resident Teacher & Choreographer.





THE SEIDENSTEIN METHOD

Quantum Theatre: Slapstick to Shakesppeare is an economical way to reinvigorate ones own theatre practice by using universal principles. The Seidenstein Method is organic and logical. It incorporates a breadth of ideas, techniques and cultural inheritance that contemporary theatre possesses. Ira's exercises leave space for an actor to use any of their previous trainings or experience.
